Funfair

Ferris Wheel

The fair lasted for 1 month during the last Chinese New Year. During the 2 weeks peak, car park was totally full from 8pm onwards and the main road towards the fair was terribly congested too. I was there after the long holiday. I guess it would be a great time to spread my tripod leg as the crowd will be lesser. Yes indeed, no crowd at all! None of the machines are moving. Before the sky turned totally dark, I took up the courage & requested the operator of euro wheel to spin the wheel for me. The kind Australian lady just smile and press the button immediately with no questions asked. Really appreciate her help very much.

Meanwhile on the other side, I was stopped by a local game stall operator as she forbid me to shoot any photos in the funfair. She said ‘Hey you can’t shoot photograph here, don’t you know that? Photography is not allowed here!’ (I’m not sure if she will say the same to those who snapping tons of photo with their handphone) With a big smile i replied ‘Oh I didn’t know that, there is no indication in the front gate. I’ve been shooting for 45 mins and so far you’re the only one that stop me’ (Mind you, I don’t even shoot her face, I’m shooting at still objects). Without wasting my time to answer those silly questions that started to pop out from her mouth, I moved to next stall.

Due to prior encounter, I asked the stall owner politely if I could shoot his game stall. He said ‘Please, shoot as much as you like and do include this soft toy too’. As he talked he put the soft cute little cow infront of those tiny balloons…

There you go…

Merdeka Getaway!

National Day is all Malaysian’s favourite day especially when it falls on Friday! That would mean a promising long holiday for all if you know how to avoid the crowd and seriously congested PLUS highway. Still, some people never learn… just like me. I ended up stuck in few hours jam on Merdeka eve and crowded between seas of human along the roadside to Paya Indah wetland, just to catch a glimpse of the marvelous Malaysia International Fireworks Competition in Putrajaya.

I reached there at 10pm and waited 2 hours watching KLIA express passed by in front of us every 20 minutes. We secured our tripod just behind a family with children making noise, ‘picnic’ in front of us and right behind, couples sitting along the roadside fence, families with children screaming wanted to go home or requesting for toilet trip… oh I forgot to mention about the nasty mosquitoes…

Fireworks by Japanese Team

The firework started at 12am and last for 25mins. The crowd kept cheering at the magnificent work of Japanese team and at the end everyone gave a loud and long applause before disappeared to their vehicle in very rapid motion. At the time I finished packing up my tripod, the surrounding had cleared up and everyone got stuck in jam one more time. I reached home at 2am plus…
